Haight-Ashbury is a district of San Francisco, California, USA named after the intersection of Haight Street and Ashbury Avenue. In the mid-1960s, this was perhaps the most famous intersection in the world, a place where young people came to from all over the world, free spirited in search of love and peace. In the summer of 1967 the tide of history swept through the nation and San Francisco was in the heart of it, as hundreds of thousands of young people converged on the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco with shouts of "Make Love, Not War," "U.S. out of Vietnam!" and "Equal Rights for All!" Ideals of peace, social justice and ecology have resounded from the Haight-Ashbury area ever since, and today still remains a popular destination for political and fashion trends. The hippies, who flooded out of the Summer of Love in all directions, to India, Europe, and Australia, made an influence on those cultures that continues to resonate. Today more people know that the Summer of Love occurred in San Francisco than know that the United Nations was founded here.

Haight & Ashbury (H&A) is a new brand on the rise in the young menswear market. It was founded in 1999 by the Creative Director of CID Incorporated.   CID Inc. has been in the fashion industry for over 20 years in various segments of the business such as; textile imports, distribution, and specializing in private label. Having lived in the U.K. for some time, the British influence is evident in the collections that offer a unique style balance that merge North American Retailers with the trend setting streets of London. The vision is to create collections with great styling, impeccable workmanship combined with retailer’s fast growing need for margins that translate into better sell-through at the retail level. With a product mix of shirtings, sport coats, trousers, waistcoats, knitwear and outerwear the line covers all components of menswear including accessories such as ties, scarves, hats, cuff-links, belts and eyewear.

Like its namesake, the H&A brand stands for a man comfortable in his skin, who is aware of his environment but not defined by it. He is self aware yet not self concerned. The H&A brand combines creativity and individuality. It offers a self-confident man to express his own style. H&A is unconventional, a label defined not by age group, but by attitude.
